VISITOR GUIDELINES at WWF-Hong Kong Island House

PREPARATION TIPS

  1. Wear plain coloured clothes; long trousers are preferred.
  2. Wear sturdy walking shoes. (Note: the terrain is gentle around Island House.)
  3. Bring plenty of water. A soft-drink and snack vending machine is located at the Visitor Centre (start/finish point).

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Island House is a monument declared under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance. Please do not deface the site, buildings or facilities.

2. To treasure our heritage and make sure all visitors can enjoy a pleasant environment, please pay attention to the followings:

  • Keep quiet and keep clean
  • No smoking and no littering
  • No feeding wildlife
  • Do not pick vegetation in the garden
  • Do not bring animals into the Centre, except for guide dogs accompanying visually-impaired visitors
  • Some areas of Island House only be accessed via stairs. Elderly and visually-impaired visitors can seek assistance from WWF staff to access these areas

3. Visitors should be responsible for their (and their children’s) safety and should follow all staff instructions.

4. The organizer is not liable for any injury or loss of personal belongings during the event.

5. No parking is available at Island House.

 

SAFRTY ADVICE

  • Do not disturb any bee or wasp nests
  • Do not touch any plant leaves unless advised to do so by the Eco-guide
  • Do not step on any rocky terrain

 

ADVERSE WEATEHR CONDITION

1. The tour / activity will be cancelled if any of the following signals are hoisted within three hours before the scheduled tour start time:

  • Typhoon Signal No. 3 or above by the Hong Kong Observatory
  • Amber, Red or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal by the Hong Kong Observatory
  • Air Quality Health Index (Tai Po station) at 10+ “Serious” by Environmental Protection Department

2. All programmes will commence on time in normal weather conditions. If participants do not show up due to personal
reasons, no payment will be refunded. No rescheduling of tour / activity will be arranged.

3. In case of heavy rain or thunder storm, visitors will be required to stay indoors. Any tour / activity underway will be suspended immediately if any of the following signals are hoisted. No refund or rescheduling will be made:

  • Typhoon Signal No. 3 or above by the Hong Kong Observatory
  • Amber, Red or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal by the Hong Kong Observatory
  • Air Quality Health Index (Tai Po station) at 10+ “Serious” by Environmental Protection Department

NOTICE:
WWF-Hong Kong staff has the final right to reschedule, shorten and cancel the tour / activity, where no payment will be refunded or rescheduled.
