Taking everything she had learnt across her styling career, plus the common sense of everyday sustainability, Anna began developing E.L.V. DENIM.

Admiring denim as a functional and long-lasting fabric, Anna didn’t understand why the denim industry was producing 4bn pairs of jeans a year from virgin fibres. She decided to rework existing jeans into new modern, sophisticated styles that can be tailored to fit every ‘body’

Liwen Liang

Liwen Liang

Creative Director of Designer Brand – LIWEN LIANG

Liwen Liang is a ceramic worker and fashion designer. Liang was born in a small city called Jingdezhen, but it’s the world-famous porcelain capital with a ceramic history of thousands of years. His family and friends are all ceramic workers. Liang’s grandfather was a ceramic kiln worker at the National Porcelain Factory in the 1950s, and his descendants are also engaged in the ceramic business. Liang finished master of womenswear design from the London College of Fashion in 2023. Liang has been thinking about how to express his understanding of the culture of his hometown from an international perspective.

Liang grew up in his family ceramic workshop, and his creative style comes from the environment in which he grew up. The muddy working environment, the smell of the mud, the broken ceramic fragments, and the way the ceramic workers dress are all the sources of his inspiration. Liang realized there is no aesthetic in fashion that presents the ceramic craftsman. He wants to bring the aesthetics of his community into fashion.

Zoie Lam

Zoie Lam

Artist

Zoie Lam is an artist based in Hong Kong . As the creator of the imaginary planet Zlism, she details a world with all its residents and happenings. Positive energy oozes out from the kind-hearted characters as they

come alive under her pen, all with fascinating stories unfolding in one painting after another. “ZL”is the initial of Zoie Lam while “LISM” stands for her philosophy and ideas. Through her drawings, Zoie would like to express her ideas towards different social phenomena.

Most of the artworks by Zoie Lam appear as a dense and intricate tapestry of patterns juxtaposed with vivid colours — a remarkable visual contrast for a signature style that sets Lam apart from the rest. Choosing acrylic paint and wool yarn, and occasionally oil-base marker and technical drawing pen for black-and- white effect, Lam always fills her stylistic paintings in brilliant hues and especially with florescent colours. All details are completed with refined brushstrokes and delicate lines under the fine pen tip. The canvas is then topped with hand-knitted finishing touches. Her another favorite art form is mural painting, which includes walls of shops and impromptu painting alongside real-time animation and performance.

Her interest in sequins blossomed whilst studying for an MA in Fashion and the Environment at London College of Fashion in 2012.

More recently, Rachel has worked with University partners to pioneer the development of biodegradable, commercially viable, washable sequins made from natural materials. Having successfully produced biobased, biodegradable sequins at a laboratory scale, The Sustainable Sequin Company is now embarking on the scaling-up process. This breakthrough in creating sequin film from renewable, biodegradable resources signifies a significant reduction in fossil fuel consumption and the associated greenhouse gas emissions, helping to achieve maximum sparkle with minimal environmental impact.

Zoie Lam

Rachel Clowes

Founder of The Sustainable Sequin Company

Rachel founded The Sustainable Sequin Company in 2018 to supply the fashion industry with sustainable embellishments, provide design and sampling services, and offer sustainable textile consultancy. Since then, she has created sequins for a large variety of global brands, independent designers, students and artists.

Rachel has always loved textiles; studying for a degree in embroidery before working as a print and embroidery swatch designer, embroidery technician and sustainable fashion tutor.

Anna Foster

Founder and Creative Director of Denim Brand – E.L.V. DENIM

Anna is Founder and Creative Director of pioneering sustainable denim brand E.L.V. DENIM. Prior to founding the brand Anna had been a fashion editor for twenty years at publications such as Exit, and i-D Magazine. She then went on to be Fashion Director at Lula, and Fashion Director-at-Large at Australian style title fashion RUSSH before deciding to focus solely on the brand in 2022.
