Dr. Henry Tan has accumulated over forty years of business experience in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and the Western Pacific region. He has a deep understanding of the local markets and business environments and has established extensive cooperative relationships. Dr. Henry Tan began participating in the family’s shipping and trading business in Guam in the 1970s and expanded the business into different industries, including tourism, retail, fisheries, door-to-air, international shipping, ground handling and airport services, petroleum, insurance, healthcare, logistics, and real estate. Today, Luen Thai has become a comprehensive international group. Luen Thai Retail has positioned Skechers as one of the top three international sportswear brands in China and manages a series of world-renowned brands in Asia. Under the leadership of Dr. Henry Tan, S.A.I. Leisure Group Company Limited (stock code: 1832) has become the leading leisure travel group in Saipan and Guam and was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2019. Dr. Henry Tan has been involved in the garment manufacturing industry for over thirty years and co-founded Luen Thai Holdings Limited (stock code: 311) with his family. He served as the CEO and Executive Director from 2004 to 2017 and dedicated himself to establishing Luen Thai Holdings Limited as a leading global fashion apparel and handbag manufacturer.

 

Dr. Henry Tan is actively involved in social welfare activities. He is currently a member of the 14th Hong Kong National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Textile Council, a member of the Hong Kong Election Committee, a member of the Advisory Committee and a Board Member of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Professional and Continuing Education Division of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an Honorary Member of the Hong Kong Baptist University Council, the Executive Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, and the former Chairman of Po Leung Kuk. Dr. Henry Tan is a represent member of the 13th Hong Kong National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, an Honorary School Board Member of Peking University, and a member of the Board of Directors of Huaqiao University. He was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2005 and appointed as Justice of the Peace in 2008. In 2018, he was conferred the title of Honorary Fellow by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and in 2013, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humanities by the University of Guam.
